Whole lotta workin’ goin’ on

A few months after my last post on what I’ve been doing at work, we have added two new sites, about finished an upgrade from NT4 to Active Directory, migrate Exchange 5.5 to Exchange 2003, added new MailFrontier anti-spam Appliances, moved from CA ARCServ to Veritas 10.D with continuous protection, new IP-KVMs, new firewalls at each site and started looking at adding an offsite datacenter for the GIS sites that we host for customers. In other words we’ve been very busy and I’m looking forward to a little down time and vacation before we start on the file server (SAN / NAS), document management (SharePoint / Documentum) and get back to the new data center. And oh yeah I’ve got classes I’m trying to stay on top off during all of this at the same time.

The exchange setup we have is pretty nice. One main site with one front-end and one back-end server with attached storage. The front and back end servers are a PowerEdge 850 and 2650 respectfully and the storage is a PowerVault 220s. Then we have a duplicate setup at a DR site and NSI DoubleTake running replication between the two back-end servers. Add anti-spam protection form MailFrontier and backups using the Exchange agent with 10.D continuous protection agent I get brick level backups of the mailboxes and the option for bare metal restores of the server.
