Carol and I stayed the night at family last night while visiting and drove home this morning to find the street leading to our place blocked off with Police and the Fire Department. It turned out that a nearby building had caught fire spreading to the adjacent building and causing a partial collapse of the third floor.

Luckily no one (including pets) was hurt, but a few of our neighbors lost everything. The power is out right now and I don’t expect it to be back on anytime soon. We had some smoke in our place and I’m sure tomorrow we’ll be doing a lot of cleaning to get rid of the smell while we talking with the insurance company to cover the smoke damage. Carol, our two cats and I are staying with family again tonight as I was told they don’t want anyone in any of the buildings.
